Applicant Strengths

Just as districts and schools vary, so do applicants. They vary widely and every one is unique. What makes you different from the others?

Every applicant for every position, assuming they are highly qualified and certified to perform in that role, share many common attributes. They attended similar colleges that offer similar programs of study leading up to the certification of the candidates and degrees. Most applicants completed similar courses, studied mostly the same theories and practices, and similarly completed classroom visitation requirements and culminating student teaching assignments. That is, largely, they all are very much alike in many ways.

However they differ in most of the ways that these and other experiences are understood, applied, and communicated. The outward expression of all they know and have done are shaped by unique personal, psychological, and social qualities of the candidates.

Applicants should be aware of the many different signals they might send when they are in front of others, and be particularly sure how they send messages that they want the interview team to receive. For this reason, we advise applicants to practice interviewing in front of other people and to seek feedback from audience members who you trust.

Share the special qualities and talents you will bring to the job. Even though they might not be directly related to the classroom teaching position, applicants with musical, artistic, literary, theatrical, athletic, dance or other talents should be certain to mention those qualities in their cover letter, resume, and interview responses they share with the team.

Every combination of talents, skills, personality traits, and leadership qualities combine to produce what appear to be very different candidates for teaching positions. Take time to identify what sets you apart from others and how you may combine those traits with the professional demands of the position to offer the district a unique and promising solution - YOU! State this in your application documents and in your responses at the interview table.

We should discuss this further. Professional consultation is free for every Client who purchases any Product or Service. Our Coach will be pleased to hear your Story and work with you to develop a job search strategy that meets your objectives.
